Okay...I just had to post this 'cause I was equally horrified and dying of lmao.

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/dailybrew/ten-things-canada-does-better-anyone-according-patronizing-182223467.html

The only thing I really can say about this (other than lmao at the person who came up with that list in the first place - and, sorry, but CNN has a bad rep for this kind of BS) is to wonder what's wrong with being polite? When did apologizing become inappropriate? When is saying 'please' and 'thank you' such a bad thing? Did they stop and think that if more people in certain places were a little more polite and less rude that maybe the world would be a slightly better place to live? Hmph. There. I'm done.

In other news...Kali is baking her ass off for Christmas. Big family-day is coming this weekend. Attempt to make cream cheese shortbread with the Philly chocolate cream cheese failed, sadly, so maybe probably going for something else tomorrow. Like sugar cookies - if I feel ambitious enough to fool around with icing, too. Or maybe gingerbread. *shrugs* We'll see.

It is now just after 10 am, and Kali has already spent an hour and a half shoveling white crap. Still have about 3/4 of the front yard & driveway to go. X___X Just to put this in perspective, there was not a snowflake to be seen yesterday (the previous little skiff last week had melted away), and this morning it looked like this (out the front door and kitchen window because one could not fully get the front door open let alone walk outside):

Winter 2013 02

Winter 2013 01

I am also not feeling so hot. Kill me now.

And someone give the inventor of the snow blower a Nobel prize (or name them to the Order of Canada...or something) 'cause they deserve it.

It wouldn't be quite so awful to deal with if it wasn't the heavy wet white crap. !!__!!

UPDATE: It is 12:45 (right...stupid daylight savings; no wonder I feel like shit), and we are now done 3/4 of the driveway and front yard. I forgot to mention my dad's anal retentiveness regarding snow shoveling - or OCD, it's hard to decide, really. He likes to shovel it all half-way across the grass and pile it up so that not only the driveway is clear but also half the lawn. -__- I will admit that that one year a few ago, when we had the stupid epic ridiculous wtf?! amount of snow that required a bobcat and dump truck to come in and remove it, well...okay, that forethought came in handy, considering, but still! More work much? *sigh* Oh, and we gave up on the snow blower 'cause the white shit is too wet and heavy and just clogs it up. Ra help me!

Ah...Yes, Kali is still alive. @_@ I apologize for the lack of lj-ing (does anyone even look at this anymore?? X_x ) Believe it or not, stuff's actually happened to post about, too. Crazy, huh?

First, Sets! Thanks for the card! LOL I got it a couple days ago, but haven't been able to get online until tonight (stupid crappy internet is stupid and crappy, particularly when winter arrives in force on me). Yours will be in the mail on Monday because I'm a bloody idiot and forgot to buy stamps. Stupid Kali. Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Sets!!!! ^____^ Have a great day and eat some cake!

So stuff that Kali has done. I have fully moved back to my parents for the winter (I ain't movin' in snow, now so :P ). This has involved painting and moving furniture and... @_@ well, let's just say it's was a gong show. But I'm done with that for a few months, at least.

I also attended the Edmonton Comic Expo at the end of September! I have my clueless cousin and her enthusiastic and curious daughter to thank for that. Neither had ever been to a con, so it was entertaining as all hell for me to introduce them to a small corner of my world. XD Needless to say cousin's daughter is already planning her cosplay for next year. ^___^ Bad influence? Nah... My highlight, however, was to manage to sit in on the panel for Joe Flanigan (SGA)! As a huge Stargate-verse fangirl, this was just fabulous! He was great - funny, a good speaker, and entertaining. We got a bonus, though, when Garrett Wang (ST:V) came out first as the panel's mod! So fun times all around. I'd have gone for the autograph, but that costs money and Kali has none to spare. :(

In October, I geeked out again and went to the Legend of Zelda, Symphony of the Goddesses at the Jube in Edmonton with my mom - much to her bemusement. She got her entertainment out of seeing/hearing a symphony for the first time, and I just basked in all the Zelda music. ^-^ If you're a fan (and if you're not, what the heck is wrong with you?) this is a must-do. Totally made me want to come home and play Zelda again - which I didn't get to do for another week and a half because of the stupid painting and moving furniture business. -__- Anyway, it was gorgeous music, and the musicians made an excellent presentation.

I have also finally gotten around to reading the Percy Jackson series and the Kane Chronicles, by Rick Riordan. I really liked the 2 movies so far (which I saw first), and wanted to see if the books were actually as interesting, and as usual the books were better. XD I highly recommend them. Now I just have to get my hands on the last three of the Heroes of Olympus Series so I can be caught up when the last book comes out next fall. One of my biggest pet peeves is not getting the whole story, and I'm kinda behind. Also...the muses strike again (ignore the puns involving muses in this case, considering the myth connections), so...ficage! *sigh* Anyway, go read them! They're a lot of fun!

So! Now it's November (where did the year go!?) and, ugh, it's winter. Officially. !!__!! Kali will be getting up early tomorrow, ugh again, to go outside and shovel the white shit. Have I mentioned that I hate winter? No? I do.

*le sigh*

Well, Kali's life has again decided to fuck with her. Since moving, I've been sick off and on a few times - and to put perspective on this, I don't get sick. I get colds, yes, and sometimes they're fairly awful ones, but nothing like what I've been experiencing. I'm working on figuring out why and how and all those questions, but so far no answers. One of those questions is, is it environmental? I sort of lean toward that, myself, in combination with a few other factors, but in point of fact I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired, and living where I am isn't working out on the employment front either, so...I'm moving back to where I was. Unfortunately this means back with crappy internet again, too, as does having to put up with parents in my space all the time once again, but if it means getting well and hopefully becoming a totally independent adult, I'll deal. I can only say that I tried, really tried, and since it didn't work, I'm going to try something else. Moving forward, right?

Anyway, I apologize for the long time spans between my presence online. It will probably be this way for at least the rest of the month while I deal with all the issues involved in moving (ugh) - let me just say it's already turning into a gong show with mucho drama. I'm still writing though! I have so much written...just wish I had something post-able for you! I'm working on that, slowly but surely.
